Do Orthotics with a Metatarsal Pad Decrease Pain and Fear of Falling in Older Adults? A Randomized Control Trial

Aims This randomized control trial compares the effects of orthotics, with and without metatarsal pads, on pain fear falling in older adults (NCT04894396).Methods 206 participants over 60 years old received either an Aetrex L2305 Orthotic pads (intervention) or L2300 (control). Outcome scores were collected at baseline six weeks.Results Both intervention groups reported significant improvements back, hips, knees, ankles, feet, measured a Numerical Rating Scale (p < 0.001). Foot foot function subscales Health Status Questionnaire Short Falls Efficacy International also significantly improved both Between-group differences not statistically for any outcome > 0.05).Conclusions Orthotics, decrease adults.
